Family Second Preference Current in August 2013

For the first time in years the priority dates for Family Based Second Preference for spouses and minor children of lawful permanent residents will be current in August 2013 according to the recently published State Department Visa Bulletin. This means that such beneficiaries of immigrant visa petitions will also be able to adjust status in the US if lawfully here. For those beneficiaries outside the US, the immigrant visa process will move swiftly without waiting the two to four years the priority dates have been backlogged prior to August.
