Immigration Issue: TPS Requested by Philippine Government

 n the wake of last month’s devastating Typhoon Yolanda which is suspected of killing over 5,000 residents and displaced over a million, the Philippine Government has made a formal request that the US designate the Philippines for Temporary Protective Status (“TPS”).

 

Immigration Issue

Should the US agree to do so, thousands of Philippine nationals presently in the US without authorization would be permitted to request work authorization and lawful status for the duration of the TPS designation. Further information will be forthcoming.
