Temporary Protective Status (TPS) for Haitians Extended

USCIS recently announced Temporary Protective Status for Haitiannationals been extended for an additional 18 months effective July 23, 2014 through January 22, 2016. Those Haitians currently in TPS status may apply to re-register during the 60 day period that runs from March 3, 2014 through May 2, 2014. Applicants for re-registration will also have their current work authorization documents bearing a July 22, 2014 expiration date automatically extended through January 22, 2015. USCIS provided this automatic extension to accommodate those individuals whose work permits would expire before receiving their new work permits from USCIS.

To re-register, applicants will file the form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status and the form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization.
